BJ Williams (Basil Miller Williams), 63 years old, of Troutville, Virginia went to be with the lord on February 9th, 2025. BJ lost the love of his life, Kathy Hall, in 2013. BJ and Kathy spent 11 wonderful years together.
BJ was born in Roanoke, Virginia. He is the son of Basil Williams Sr. and Betty Duncan Williams of Blue Ridge, Virginia. As part of the Class of 1979, BJ graduated from Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Virginia. He was an employee at AVIS Construction out of Lynchburg, Virginia.
BJ belonged to Colonial Baptist Church of Blue Ridge, Virginia. In his free time, he enjoyed racing, fishing, shooting pool, bowling, and hanging out with his friends. He also enjoyed playing guitar with his late cousin, Lynnwood “Biscuit” Williams Jr. BJ had a wonderful sense of humor, he was straightforward and would literally do anything for anyone. If you ever needed a place to stay, BJ would let you stay with him, in his home, without a second thought. He had his faults, but everyone loved and accepted him as he was.
BJ is survived by his two sisters; Joyce Kelley of Roanoke, Virginia, and Barbra Chewning, of Georgia; numerous cousins, aunt, uncles, nephews, and nieces; as well as special friends, Derek, Sheena, Carson, and Maggie Ferguson.
BJ’s family would like to extend a thank you to the Ferguson family, we do appreciate the concern and care your family has given BJ. We would also like to thank BJ’s neighbors on Coaling Road, thank you for always being there for BJ, he loved you all.
BJ is preceded in death by his grandparents on both Williams and Duncan family sides; his parents, Basil Williams Sr. and Betty Duncan Williams; and his life partner, Kathy Hall.
A memorial service will be held Monday, February 17th, 2025 at 12:00pm at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 5731 Airport RD NW, Roanoke, VA 24012.
