Randall was born in El Paso, Texas on June 25, 1944 to Harvey LeRoy Taylor and Della Ann O’Donnal and was the youngest of three children (Del Roy and Wayne). He served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lima Peru, and returned to marry the love of his life, Sondra Merrell, on August 12, 1966 in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple.
Randall graduated from Brigham Young University with a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He loved working through problems with a systematic approach and was constantly industrious. He worked for Simula Inc. for almost the entirety of his professional career and helped it grow to unprecedented heights. Through his employment, he traveled the world seeing and experiencing places and cultures that many only dream of, yet his heart was always at home with his family. Randall and Sondra spent most of their married life in Phoenix, Arizona serving others, working, and raising their 6 beautiful children. As their children grew and moved away from home, Randall and Sondra relocated to be nearer to them, as family was always the most important piece of their life.
Randall is survived by his wife, Sondra Merrell Taylor, his children, Melanie Willis (Byde), Brett Taylor (Jenny), Matt Taylor (Liz), Brandon Taylor (Noelle), Wendy Bennion (John), James Taylor (Kerri), and his big brother Wayne O. Taylor. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, and his great-granddaughter who all adored him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey LeRoy Taylor and Della Ann O’Donnal; his step mother, Rosa Elena del Socorro Guerrero Leon; and his beloved older brother, Del Roy Taylor.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 1:00 pm. A brief viewing will be held prior to funeral services from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel located at 2101 North Providence Drive, Saratoga Springs.
Randall worked diligently throughout his mortal life to bring to life the history and stories of his family who had gone on before him. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, testimony, family devotion, and love that will never be forgotten.
