Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Loma Linda, after battling cancer. Vanda retired from the US Air
Force after 21 years of service and worked at the Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms, CA as a
Benefits Coordinator and Risk Manager.
Vanda was born in England while her family was stationed overseas. She grew up in Taipei,
Taiwan, Virginia, and lived in Japan and Guam before settling in CA. Vanda was a loving and
supportive mother to her daughter, Jhordan, and her stepdaughters Paris and Sicily. She was
described by her family, colleagues and friends as a friendly, kind, outgoing, bubbly person with
a heart of gold and a beautiful smile. She was loved by the patients and staff at the Naval
Hospital. She was an avid hiker, loved biking, reading and socializing with friends and family.
Her grace and kindness will truly be missed.
Vanda is survived by her daughter, Jhordan; her two stepdaughters Paris and Sicily; her parents
Bernard and Shirley James; her sisters Stephanie James; and Wendy Ellis; and her niece,
Sydney Karatu.
A visitation for Vanda will be held Monday, September 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at
Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504.
Following the visitation will be a burial service from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM at Riverside National
Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, March Air Reserve Base, CA 92518.
