Our beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother: Sylvia Villasenor Galvez, born September 16, 1945 in Mexico City, Mexico, was the daughter of Guadalupe and Javier Villasenor. Not only did she light up their lives, but she was one of 8 total siblings. Mrs. Galvez joined The Kingdom of God on Thursday, January 30, 2014, as she died peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Growing up in Lordsburg, New Mexico, Sylvia was a loving sister, and beloved daughter. Sylvia was very close with her family, they describe her as caring, timid, and one of the most helpful individuals one could meet. As a teen she loved to go dancing with friends, and was always the most beautiful girl in the room. Sylvia was crowned Freshman Princess in high school. She enjoyed playing sports such as basketball, which she later taught her son, Noah, how to play, showing him how to “shoot” the ball.
At the tender young age of 22, Sylvia moved to California from New Mexico in 1967. Sylvia met the man of her dreams, Eliud Galvez in 1970 at Corona Park, in the small town of Corona, a moment her husband will never forget, as he was granted the chance to date this strikingly beautiful woman, who later became his wife. Eliud married Sylvia in 1971 and together they had four wonderful children: Noah, Mark, Rachel, and Sylvia. She was a dedicated wife, and mother, who spent her life not only serving The Lord, but managing a busy household to assure her family was comfortable, loved, and secure. Always wanting to be a teacher, Sylvia later achieved her dream of speaking the word of God, and began educating others on the teachings of The Bible, as she became the First Woman to receive Ministerial Credentials in Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ Ministry in 2010.
Sylvia was always caring and praying for others, and helping those in need, giving advice to those that sought her for her knowledge of the Lord. Aside from her strong will in her Faith, her children remember her as funny, making jokes so that others will laugh, one could say she had an infectious laugh herself, as well as being remembered as an “exceptional cook”. She loved to dance at Church, loved to sing for The Lord. Her grandchildren say she was patient with them, tolerant of their behaviors, and a good grandmother who took good care of them.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband Eliud Galvez, their children Noah(Jeannie and Jeremy), Mark(Lacy), Rachel(Jorge), Sylvia(Jesse and lil Jesse), her grandchildren Isaac, Jorge, Arianna, and Serenity, and her siblings Amalia, Lucila, Julian, Lupe, and Valente. She joins her siblings Jesus, Alicia, and Javier in Heaven, and may they all rest in peace.
Although we know she is in Heaven, adorned with her crown, she will continue to be loved, forever remembered, and truly missed.
We love You Mom
