Happy birthday, uncle Ronnie. We love and miss you!

I didn’t have it in me to speak without getting a lump in my throat. I like to think I had a solid relationship with my uncle. We had several heart to heart conversations over the years. The one that stands out the most is when we had lunch at his favorite restaurant, Carlos O’Brien’s. He opened up and shared so many memories of his brother and my uncle Richie. You can hear the joy in his voice and see it in his smile. He told me “I love talking about my brother without it being a sad story”. I know he is with him now and smiling that same smile. I love you, Ronnie. Send my love to the family and put in a good word for me. 

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to post, but then ZZ Top’s “ sharp dressed man” popped into my head lol  
Ronnie I know you would get a chuckle out of that .
My devotional for today speaks of seasons, 
Dark seasons are rare and temporary, thank You for that knowledge Lord , but please let me and others feel the encouragement of Your touch often.


Dear Casey family,
You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of Ron. I was saddened to hear of his passing.

You do not know me but I knew Ron. I may have been a casual acquaintance via online gaming, however I visited Ron a couple of times all the way from Australia. 

When he was in Roanoke,  he was courteous enough to let me stay with him and show me around. It was a pleasure spending time with this loving, sensitive and caring fellow.

I know he had troubles in his life but he was honest. He was proud too but I believe he really did love his family. 

I was unable to see or speak with him for a long time but I knew of his sickness and I guess that's what ultimately took his precious life.

I will miss him greatly as I'm sure you will.

If I can leave you with the some words of comfort: The Bible shows that death can be liked to a deep sleep. (John 11:11). But Ron will not be forgotten by God. Soon he will be resurrected and we will once again experience the happiness of seeing Ron (Acts 24:15)
