Rodney, I love you man. I wish I could’ve said goodbye. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend. We talked about so much, and you taught me so much. On this day - my wedding day - Swift gave me plenty of good advice toward marriage and life, but what stuck with me about him from that day and keeps replaying in my head is when he told me that we were family and that's why they were there and would continue to be there. I will miss his warm embrace, but to the rest of his family - he was like a big brother to me and thus, I consider you to be family to me also. Like he was there for me in various ways, I will continue to be here for you any way I can be. Much love, always.

SSG Swift was a very knowledgeable Soldier and a pleasure to be around during my time in command. He had a great sense of humor and he will surely be missed. My prayers and condolences are with his family.

Swiper, as I have called him for 17 years, will forever be missed in my heart! I will miss his funnies, the way he answered my phone calls with his Spanish words, made up or not.  Seeing his love for his girls. Calling him when I needed to talk.  I will treasure all the special moments I have had w him through the years.  Especially our game nights.  They will never be the same without you.   Your girls will be well cared for while you are resting.

I don’t think saying we will miss you even begins to accurately describe or encompass  how we all feel about you, Rodney. It was lucky that Skinny & I just happened to run into you guys that day at Disneyland. It really was wonderful that we got to share that day with you both. Precious time with our friends. 

That time when Swift was so sure he was gonna win…. Don’t worry, Rodney… I was just as surprised as you were. Moments like these are forever and will never be forgotten. Thank you for the laughter and smiles; the shenanigans you brought to all of us. Truly one of kind.  

Running ranges was the daily routine out in Jordan.  SSG Swift might not have always wanted to be out there with the Jordanians, but he was great when he went out.

The boys in their matching hoodies, repping their favorite NFL team. Took us about half the time we were in country to realize we all had the same hoodie.

We were ready to head home after a couple of weeks of an abrupt activation but it was another one of a kind experience that we had the opportunity to bond over. 

Swift was often big cheesin with a smile that would light up a room as in this case out in the streets of L.A. 

Swift always had his goofy side and would make people laugh. This was Swift on the bus getting ready to head back home from Jordan to re-unite with his family and loved ones who he missed very much. We had many conversations about his family throughout the deployment and it was clear how much love he had for them. 

Throughout the Jordan deployment, Swift served as a great role model, mentor, and overall leader for me. He trained me well both physically and mentally, mentored me through leadership boards, and was a great Truck Commander and Section Sergeant. It was an honor receiving our awards together in the end because he played a major role in mine. Thank you brother. 

Swift was a leader, mentor, friend, and brother to me. In the picture above , I remember tripping and falling while entering a building for room clearing. He helped pick me back up and we had a good laugh and carried on.

I’m so happy we were able to have this trip. His epic love for his wife has always been so beautiful to see. 

It filled me with so much pride to serve with him. I owe him thanks because I’d have never met my husband if RJ didn’t sit me down at 17 to convince me to enlist. He was leaving and wanted to make sure I’d be ok. He was always looking out for us no matter what. 

We were so lucky to have him as a big brother. 

This is one of my favorite photos. He had so many successes and so much to be proud of but being a Daddy was his greatest joy.

This trip was an adventure. From the Harrahs hotel elevators not working, to us not being able to find any food to eat anywhere and driving around for an hour trying to figure out the best spot to “float” down the river while drinking, and finally deciding to just park our tubes in front of our hotel, with our own palapa complete with someone else’s dirty diaper, and trying to steal our shade…. We would not change a single thing about that weekend with you guys; time well spent making forever memories with our friends, our Cav family.
