Robert Steven Walterman

Robert Steven Walterman (September 13, 1950) of Riverside, CA passed away on June 4, 2020. Robert was born in Miami, FL and lived there until graduating from North Miami High School. He attended University of North Carolina for his undergraduate degree where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. Robert also completed an MBA from the Wharton School of Business; he was a Certified Financial Planner and his career spanned several decades in the financial planning and stock brokerage industries; his work brought him to live and work in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Atlanta Georgia, New York City, Washington, DC, and he finally settled into semi-retirement in Riverside. He loved life living in Southern California. Robert is predeceased by his father, Edward Walterman of Jacksonville, Florida. He is survived by his mother, Beate Gutmann Walterman of Jacksonville, Florida, his son Austin P. Walterman, daughter-in-law Candace Barber Walterman, and granddaughter, Skylar Walterman of San Francisco, California, his aunt and uncle, Stan and Marcie Walterman of Lakeland, Florida, and cousin Allen Walterman of Kaneohe, Hawaii. Robert was a person of many interests, collections, and hobbies. He became interested in something and would study it and pursue it for every detail. He loved to travel, loved interesting cars, was a very accomplished gardener, loved hummingbirds, and spending time with his beloved dog, Atta. Robert was a spiritual person who spent much of life studying the world’s religions and treasured his own Jewish heritage, appreciating what his Holocaust-surviving relatives endured. He had a very intelligent wit and was well-loved by many friends and colleagues. He helped many friends in his personal life and was very good at mentoring and developing the careers of new persons in his field. He is already missed by all but his legacy will live on in all the lives he positively impacted.
