Raymond Earl Brown was born on January 17th, 1955 to the late Eli and Bessie Mae Brown in Wisner, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Raymond Earl Brown, Jr.; his brothers Everett Brown, Carl Brown, Albert Brown, Jimmy Brown, and Elvis Brown; and two sisters, Lillian Smith and Priscilla Brown. Raymond confessed Christ at an early age while attending Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. At the age of 15, he left Louisiana to attend Job Corp. in Texas, where he received his high school diploma. In March of 1972, Raymond’s first son, Christopher Tyrone Byrd, was born. In August of that same year, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served our country over seas. In 1974, Raymond was discharged from the Military and began a new life in Los Angeles, CA, where he met the love of his life, Loretta. Raymond and Loretta married in 1975, and from this union four daughters and one son were born. Raymond held various job positions, including truck driver and auto mechanic. Out of all of his job titles, “Papa” was his favorite.
Papa had many loves. He loved Westerns, especially anything with Clint Eastwood. If he wasn’t watching a Western, he was watching Storage Wars, Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers or a documentary about Aliens. Papa also loved the Blues and Country Music. If you knew Papa, you know he loved a good, strong cup of coffee. You could always depend on him to have that coffee pot going all day. More than anything, Papa loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his family. As much as he loved his wife and children, he loved his grandbabies even more. He was happiest when all of his babies were together with him.
Papa leaves to cherish his memories his wife Loretta of Moreno Valley; son Christopher Tyrone (Tekeisha) Byrd of Monroe, LA; daughter Trish “Mandy” (Steve) Morrison of Compton; daughter Mona (Reggie) Allen of West Covina; daughter Cortney of Moreno Valley; daughter Brittany (Travis) Graham of Bellflower; grand-children Chris Norman, Leah Barnes, Taylor Byrd, Camille Barnes, Bryce Morrison, Elijah Graham, Isaiah Allen, and great-grandson Caleb Edison; sister Nancie (Amos) Heckard of Wisner, LA; sister Mildred (James) Herbert of Houston, TX; sister Barbara (John) Matthews of Columbus, GA; sister Robin (John) Wilson of Monroe, LA; brother Emile (Bonita) Brown of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; brother Fredrick (LeKetter) Brown of Winnsboro, LA; and brothers Donald Ray (Linda) Brown, Marvin Brown, Aaron Brown, and Stanley Brown, all of Wisner, LA, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation for Raymond will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pierce Brothers-Crestlawn Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, California 92505, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
