Michael C. Stanger returned to his Father in Heaven on April 16, 2012 after an extended illness. Mike was born in Ogden, Utah to LaVor Wright Stanger Sr. and Meriam Jenkins Stanger on March 30, 1955. Mike attended public schools in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1973 and from Weber State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in 1980. Mike was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served an honorable mission to Texas from 1973 to 1975. He worked his way through college at Utility Trailer in Clearfield Utah and Utah Transit Authority in Ogden Utah. After graduation from Weber State he moved to Northern California to work for Chevron Oil. For the past 30 years he worked for Utility Trailer Manufacturing in The City of Industry California where he was The Quality Assurance Manager.
He married Joyce Snyder from Virginia and she was the love of his life and his best friend. They enjoyed 22 years of devotion and dedication to each other. He was a world traveler who loved seeking out new places and adventures.
His father LaVor passed away one year ago and welcomed him home. Mike is survived by his wife Joyce and their four “feline kids”, Nickie, Kdee, Syrah, and Buddy. He is survived also by his mother, Meriam Stanger, brothers, Thayne (Victoria) of Walnut, California, Winn (Blanche) Layton, Utah, Don (Robyn) Plain City, Utah, Bud (Jan) Layton, Utah, and his sister Connie Winnie Mesa, Arizona. He was a loving uncle to 18 nieces and nephews. His family and friends will miss him greatly.
Funeral services and interment will be held in Riverside, California on April 21, 2012 at the Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park and Mortuary. The viewing will begin at 10:00 am and the memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the LDS church in the name of Michael C. Stanger
