Retired SSgt Melvin J. Salvador, 39, of Oceanside, California, passed away unexpectedly in Indio, California on September 29, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Salvador, two sons, Jayden and Everett Salvador, his father, Manuel (Jun) Salvador, his mother and step-father, Jocelyn and Edilberto (Jun) Abinales, his brother Sidney Salvador, and his sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Alvin Abad.
Mel was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, September 14th, 1978 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1997. A veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, Mel served as a Staff Non Commissioned Officer in Charge in the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. He and Catherine were married on April 13, 2013. After honorably serving his country for 17 years, Mel began a career with the Federal Aviation Administration. He will be dearly missed by his wife, sons, family members, fellow Marines, friends, and many motorcycle "track buddies".
