At the age of 21, she met her husband of 54 years Jose Castillo and they married after only 3 months of knowing each other. Together they had a great life full of love , laughter, and wonderful memories. They had 7 children together, 32 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Mary was the matriarch of our family, always bringing everyone together no matter the distance. Whether it was a simple family BBQ or Holiday celebration, our grandmother was there doting on the youngest child and letting the older ones enjoy themselves. Whether in California, Indiana, or Mexico, Mary and Jose were always together, creating new memories, discovering new things, and enjoying their time together. I’m sure we can all remember a time where grandma was fixing a bouquet of flowers, especially her roses, into a new vase she just had to buy. Or organizing her figurines and knick knacks in her hutches, making sure her porcelain dolls were kept tidy and front and center( no matter how creeped out we all were by them). Countless shopping trips, yard sales, and estates sales buying more Knick knacks, vases, and things for her grandchildren. She was kind and giving, there was hardly a favor she could say no to. She loved fiercely and protected her family like any true mother would . Family was the most important thing to her and she will forever be remembered by those she loved. There will never be a day where she is not in our minds or our hearts.
She is survived by her husband Jose, 6 children Lizzie, Susan, Albert, Julissa, Edward, and Carlos. She join her son Tony in eternal life. Our matriarch Mary may be gone but her memory lives within us always. We love you.
