MARTHA TERESA KING Age 92, of Riverside, CA, passed away December 29, 2011 at Sunrise Senior Living Center. Before her long illness she was an active member of the Victoria Presbyterian Church in Riverside, CA. She was born on June 7, 1919, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the youngest of four children born to Jones and Jessie Anderson. Martha graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1938. She continued her education by attending Hampton University and Knoxville College, Knoxville, TN, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1943. She taught mathematics at San Bernardino College and Arlington High School. Martha King is preceded in death by her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Horace Mann King Sr.; daughter Joyce King and granddaughter Sharee King. Before her illness, Martha always maintained a positive attitude and never complained no matter how difficult the situation. Whether you were family, friend, or stranger, she would greet you with a pleasant smile and charming grace. Her sweet nature, courage and tenacity over the many years she spent at Sunrise Senior Living Center gained her the admiration and respect of all the caregivers who assisted her. She leaves to cherish her memories a son Horace Mann King, Jr., Sacramento, CA; grandsons Jordan King, Alfred (Carolette) King, Riverside, CA; and Aaron King, Cochran, CA; granddaughters Hope King, Atlanta, GA; Christine King, San Diego, CA; Shawnette King, Chicago, IL; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Zelma Moss, Columbus, OH and Nann King, Virginia Beach, VA, in addition to a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Senior Living Center for the care and love that was shown to Martha.
