My cousin Larry was so full of love, and gave great big bear hugs. My only wish is that I'd been able to spend more time with him. I'm so proud of who he became, seeing all the messages didn't expect anything less. 
He fought with honor for both country and family and did a admirable job.
My cousin I'll celebrate your life as you are at home with God and family, give my love and hugs to our Grandma. Love you always.

So many wonderful childhood memories with you uncle Larry. I remember telling you when we visited you in the hospital that by Christmas we would both be walking in the door. Now you're walking with Jesus in peace. You will always be remembered; your family and friends loved you so very much. Until we meet again...

Here is the Eulogy for Larry given by Dennis Martinez:

Many of you may not know that Larry (AKA Marty from work) was the fifth child in a family of 10. Yes 4 brothers and 5 sisters who care deeply about each other. He was the fifth eldest. 

Larry Manuel Martinez- age 64 was born in Espanola, New Mexico on June 7, 1951 to Silviano and Mary Lou Martinez. He went home to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday July 28, 2015, he was surrounded by his family. 
Larry is survived by his wife Molly Martinez of 42 years of marriage. His Three sons, Larry Martinez Jr. and wife Monica, Gabriel Martinez and his wife Lynnette, James Martinez and fiancee Rachel and his Five Grandchildren: Noah, Rachel, Hayden, Vincent and Gunner Martinez.
Larry also has 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Brother Sil Martinez, Sisters Tita Pabon, Martha Jordinelli and Esther Ovalle (all three whom have gone home to be with Our Lord), Brothers Gilbert Martinez, Eddie Martinez, Sisters Gayle Mcgee and Dolly Henderson and myself Dennis. 
Larry also has numerous Nieces, Nephews, Relatives and Friends. 
He meant the World to US!
Larry (Marty) was a carpenter by trade for over 45 years. He worked and was recently retired from the Orange County Sanitary District as an Inspector, for 10 years. He also worked for several other companies including Margate and Kiewit Corporation for many years. Marty was a dedicated worker, a boss and inspector, and if you ever worked with him you would have learned a lot of things about the trade and about life.
 Larry enlisted and served in the United States ARMY from February 4, 1970 to December 6, 1971. He was a Vietnam Veteran as an Armor Recon specialist and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. While in Vietnam, this is where he got his nickname Marty, because in Vietnam everyone called each other by their last name and Martinez was to long for everyone to say, so they named him MARTY. Today his known by his co-workers as Marty. A funny story came about regarding his name Marty. His wife Molly could probably tell it better than I could but here goes ..... when he came home from Vietnam she would receive phone calls at the house always asking for Marty, and she would always say "I'm sorry you have the wrong number there is no Marty Martinez that lives here". So one day he overheard her on the phone. After she hung up he asked "who was that?" She said "people keep calling asking for someone named Marty." He said "That's me" She then replied "No it's not!! Your name is Larry" and she thought to herself .. who did I marry? So I guess he missed a lot of phone calls. (True Story)
Larry (aka Marty) was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and a Dear Friend to everyone. 
My sister Gayle says Larry was her "Wisdom". He had always been a man of few words but someone you listen to. His wisdom has taught me so many things about Love and having a giving heart.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Here is a little bit about our Dad from Larry, Gabe and Jimmy....

We are so fortunate to have had such a loving dad. 
 
He lived for his family. Making great sacrifices to provide for us. Working in construction for over 45 years. Waking up at 4am every morning. Driving through all of the crazy traffic. Breaking his back all day long. Just to make sure his family was comfortable.
 
And after all this, he would still manage to have enough energy to be with his family. Whether it was going to Karate, coaching and watching our little league baseball games, or wrenching on the '53 Chevy pick up truck... among many other things. He always wanted the best for us and always gave us his best. He loved us very much.
 
He was a loving husband. Married to our mom for over 42 years through thick and thin. During the hardest of times when he was going through his sickness, his biggest concern was making sure mom was okay. Always putting her first no matter what. This was dad being dad.
 
Our hearts goes out to our mom. She always stood by our dad's side in any and every circumstance. The strength of their love was most apparent during the past 6 months. It was truly beautiful to witness. Not only were they husband and wife, dad and mom, grandpa and grandma they were best friends.
 
He was a great teacher. There are too many stories to tell and too little time to tell them right now. There were countless times when we were growing up where we questioned his ways. Thinking he was being mean, unfair and unreasonable. And after letting everything play out, there was always a method to his madness. Even though it was unconventional, it was his way of teaching us a lesson. His way of teaching us how to be men. This was his greatest gift to us. 
 
Dad, we love you so much. We are so very proud and honored to be your sons. Until we meet again.

Here is a little bit of my story about Larry...

I met my husband, Larry, when I was 16 years old. We started dating at 17, and were married at the age of 21 on September 9th, 1972. 
 
During our 42 years of marriage, we had 3 beautiful sons. 
(Larry, Gabriel and Jimmy). 
 
And 5 beautiful grandchildren. 
(Noah, Rachel, Hayden, Vincent, and Gunner)
 
Larry loved his family. He was a great provider for me and the boys. He made a lot of sacrifices to provide for us. And throughout the years learned how to balance his time at work and time with our family.  
 
He enjoyed going camping and fishing. Playing sports with his boys. Taking them to karate. Managing their little league teams. Teaching them how to work on the house and repair the cars. And he enjoyed watching Angels and Chargers games.
 
He was selfless. Always offering to help a friend or family member in need. Whether it was helping a neighbor's child with their homework. Finding a job for a friend. Helping family members and friends build their homes. Or if you just needed a hug and someone to listen to you. He would be there. Never expecting anything in return.
 
He was a loving husband. His love was unconditional. We were always there for each other. Enjoying the highs in our life and riding out the lows. Whatever life threw at us, we were always together.
 
He would call me his best friend. And I was his best friend.
 
I gave him my heart at 17 years old, and he will have my heart forever.  My one and only love.
