In loving memory of Laha Jean Brown Jamison, a women of talent, grace and boundless creativity. She embarked on her journey through life with passion and determination, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Laha was born on January 6, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to her parents Guthrie M. Wright, and Jessie Mae Hatcher Wright both whom preceded her in death. She was a loving older sister of Guthrie M. Wright, Jr. and Gwendolyn Yvonne Moore, who also proceeded her in death.
Her early years at Fort Pitt Elementary and Westinghouse High School laid the foundation for a life dedicated to learning. Laha studied opera and music in Memphis, Tennessee; where her angelic voice touched the hearts of many.
After her travels through the Philippines, Spain and other parts of Europe, she expanded her horizons. A trailblazer in her own right, she continued to evolve. Her unwavering faith in the Lord served as her guiding light. It was her source of strength & solace in times of uncertainty.
Laha moved to Riverside after her stay overseas, in 1974. She was previously married to the late Donald Brown, Sr. and they had two children.
She delved into the science of skincare, cosmetics and business, earning her Associate Degree at Riverside City College.
Laha was a trusted and sought after skin care expert and aesthetician loved by her clients, business partners and celebrities alike. Laha, the founder of Face Place in Riverside, CA was the epitome of skin care for more than 30 years. Her business would boast a clientele that most would aspire to. Laha had a deep love for humankind.
In 1978, fate brought Laha the greatest love of her life, on the campus of Riverside City College, where she met Roland Briggs Jamison. Their union in 1982 was a beacon of joy and harmony, a partnership that enriched their lives with shared dreams and boundless love. They explored travel, visiting family and friends making special memories.
Laha’s inner beauty radiates passion for the arts and was displayed in every corner of the home she shared with Roland. Her eye for design transformed spaces into works of art, displaying the elegance that defined her soul. She loved decorating the home she and Roland shared every season to the liking of a home in a magazine. That inspiration carried over into her Business "Face Place" as well as the way she dressed; she had an eye for design.
Beyond her professional success, Laha’s talents in the kitchen were a source of delight for the family; especially her string bean shrimp casserole along with her delectable Rum Cake leaving lasting memories of warmth and togetherness.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and family friends who will cherish her memory. Laha leaves behind her loving husband Roland. Together they have three children, Donald 'Speedy' Brown, Jr, Darcel Brown and Kerry 'Joe' (Patty) Rucker. She was a loving grandmother to their three grandchildren T'Anthony Cooper, Leanna Rucker and Danielle Rucker which she adored. And niece Renée Jean Moore, her name sake; Sister-In-Law, Ruby Jamison and Brother-In-Law, Robert Jamison.
Laha's legacy will forever be intertwined with the lives she touched; which speaks to her kindness, generosity and love for all that knew her. Rest in peace "Sweet Laha", your memory will forever be cherished and your light will continue to shine bright in our hearts.
