Juan Cabrera Avina

Juan Cabrera Aviña of Santa Ana, CA went to be with our heavenly father on Thursday, October 1st, 2020. Juan was born on March 8, 1959, in Mexicali, Baja California. He is predeceased by his parents, Ladislao Aviña Bermúdez and Julia Cabrera Preciado, Sister Carmen Aviña Mata and Brother Manuel Aviña.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Aviña. Son, Giovanni Aguilar (Connie Aguilar) and daughters, Grace Poynter (Michael Poynter), Rose Bizarro (Jesus Bizarro) and 9 grandchildren – Giovanni 17, Giselle 13, Jacob 9, Jasmine 7, Jocelyn 7, Galilea 7, Giuliana 4, Jessica 4 and Audrey 2. His siblings, Antonia Cortez, Alfonso Aviña, Dolores Aviña and Lorena Aviña Gomez. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

“Juanito” as they called him, grew up in a small village of Mexicali called “Los Algodones”. He was the definition of a cowboy, riding a horse at the young age of 5 years old, his primary role was to herd and tend to the family’s cattle.

He did some schooling in Mexicali before immigrating to the U.S. in 1978. He was only 19 years old. He lived with his sister Antonia and spent a lot of time with his brother-in-law Joe Cortez. (RIP) “Big Joe” and Juan were like brothers. They worked together and in their spare time, played baseball and soccer together for the company team.

During Juan’s professional career he was a manager and a CNC machinist. He worked in manufacturing the majority of his life. It was at Calsonic Kansei, the company where he worked for over 20 years, that he met his dear wife Maria. They wed soon after meeting and formed a lovely family together.

He lived a wonderful life together with his family. He traveled many years to his favorite beach town of San Felipe. He loved spending time at the beach with all of his 9 grandchildren. He was fortunate to witness many of their precious milestone memories.

He and Maria shared their humanitarian values and loved spending time in the country of El Salvador. They helped many people in need. They employed some of the coffee growers in the area who helped work the family’s coffee farm. During the holidays they often funded the functions of the small town church in San Simon, Morazán.

They also had an avid love for travel. Most recently Juan and Maria were able to fulfill a lifelong dream of visiting the holy land of Jerusalem, where they were baptized in the Jordan River.

Juan lived a great life. He celebrated his 61st birthday in his home surrounded by all of his loved ones. His final wish was “for all of us to be together, forever.” Juan will be dearly missed by his family and friends for his sense of humor and generous nature.

Juan nació un 8 de Marzo de 1959 en el Poblado “Los Algodones”, muy cerca del Ejido Pachuca, en Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. La familia originaria de San Francisco del Rincon Guanajuato, se mudo y llego a la zona del Valle de Mexicali por allá del año 1942.

Le han fallecido Sus padres Ladislao Aviña Bermúdez y Julia Cabrera Preciado ambos originarios de San Francisco del Rincon Guanajuato, su hermana, Carmen Aviña Mata y hermano Manuel Aviña, que en paz descansen todos.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, María Aviña. Hijo, Giovanni Aguilar (Connie Aguilar) e hijas, Grace Poynter (Michael Poynter), Rose Bizarro (Jesus Bizarro) y 9 nietos: Giovanni 17, Giselle 13, Jacob 9, Jasmine 7, Jocelyn 7, Galilea 7, Giuliana 4, Jessica 4 y Audrey 2. Tambien sus hermanos, Antonia Cortez, Alfonso Aviña, Dolores Aviña y Lorena Aviña Gomez. También le sobreviven una serie de sobrinas, sobrinos, cuñadas, cuñados y otros parientes.

“Juanito” como le deciamos de cariño, creció en el pequeño poblado de Mexicali llamado “Los Algodones”. Él era la definición de un vaquero, montando a caballo a la temprana edad de 5 años, su función principal era pastorear y cuidar el ganado de la familia. Estudió la primarea y algo de la secundaria en Mexicali antes de emigrar a los Estados Unidos en 1978. Tenía solo 19 años. Vivío con su hermana Antonia y su cuñado Joe Cortez. (QEPD) “Big Joe” como le decian y Juan eran como hermanos. Trabajaban juntos y en su tiempo libre jugaban béisbol y fútbol juntos para el equipo de la compañia.

Durante la carrera profesional de Juan llego a ser gerente y maquinista de CNC. Trabajó en fabricación la mayor parte de su vida. Fue en Calsonic Kansei, la empresa en la que trabajó durante más de 20 años, donde conoció a su querida esposa María. Se casaron poco después de conocerse y formaron una muy bonita familia.

El era muy hogareño y le gustaba siempre estar junto con la familia. Viajó muchos años a su pueblo playero favorito de San Felipe. Le encantaba pasar el tiempo en la playa con sus 9 nietos y asta tuvo la fortuna de presenciar muchos de sus preciados recuerdos como cuando Jessica dio sus primeros pasos en la playa, cuando Giselle aprendio a nadar y cuando le enseñó a Jasmine a usar la bicicleta.

Él y María compartian sus valores humanitarios y les encantaba pasar tiempo en El Salvador. Alli ayudaron a muchas personas necesitadas. Empleaban a muchos campezinos de la zona que se encargan de trabajar la finca de café de la familia. En ocasiones festivas también le ayudaban a la pequeña iglesia del pueblo de San Simón, Morazán.

Más recientemente, Juan y María pudieron realizar uno de sus sueños de toda la vida cuando viajaron juntos a la tierra santa de Jerusalén. Fue un viaje inolvidable donde tuvieron la oportunidad de bautizarse en el rio de Jordan. Juan vivió una gran vida. Celebró su ultimo cumpleaños en su casa rodeado de todos sus seres queridos. Su último deseo fue "que todos estemos juntos, para siempre". Su familia y amigos extrañarán mucho a Juan por su sentido de humor y naturaleza generosa.
