He was 68 years old.
Passionate, confident and generous, Johnny was the life of every party. Always with a smile on his face and a dad joke ready at a moment's notice. Even in the final days of his life, you could catch him joking and laughing with family and friends.
He is deeply missed by his soulmate, best friend and wife of 46 years Rebecca. As well as his children Johanna, Jennifer and Robert (and dog Rocky Jr.). Also grieving are his grandchildren Gabbi, Melodi, Jocelyn, Haylie, Connor, and Rebecca Jane, daughter-in-law Noël and sons-in-law Dave and Sean.
Born on July 2, 1954, Johnny described his youth as "ordinary."
"I didn't have any dreams. I didn't have any plans."
Looking back on his life though, it is clear he dreamed big and lived extraordinarily.
Along the path of life, love, and the pursuit of happiness, he drove by the fork in the road that said, "you can't do that," and went straight, carving his own path.
How do you measure his 68 years on this earth?
Traveling to 83 countries? His meteoric rise in the ranks of the Air Force while getting an MBA? Starting and running a successful business for 15 years?
No, you can measure Johnny's mark on this earth by the love and joy he brought others. The thousands of memories cherished by his wife, family and friends.
If you are reading this now, Johnny most certainly made a mark on you.
When asked, "What was the best advice you've ever received," he quickly responded: "Never give up. Don't let your circumstances be your failure. Don't let anyone tell you that you cannot do anything. Prove them wrong. Eliminate the negative and accentuate the positive."
Heroes get remembered. Legends never die.
Johnny was both and will be missed dearly.
We will be holding a memorial to celebrate Johnny’s life. Please rsvp here by November, 28 2022.
