Joe Anthony ‘Tony’ Avila passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11th at the age of fifty-nine after a brave battle with cancer. Tony was born in 1956 in Maywood, California. He grew up with a strong connection to church and community, participating as an Altar Boy and Boy Scout into his adolescence. Growing up, he developed an insatiable love of reading, mechanics and believed that a person should never stop learning.
Tony had a passion for everything about cars and trucks, especially Hot Rods, which he loved to take apart, fix, paint and put back together. He also loved music, especially Elvis; and helping and teaching others. He was very compassionate, with an unwavering confidence to teach others to always ‘do the right thing,’ always ‘do it the right way,’ and always ‘have no excuses.’
He and Audrey have lived in Yucaipa for the past 25 years .Tony touched the lives of many people all over Southern California. Many of the automotive and construction projects he worked on as a young man can still be seen today, on and off the roads he loved so much.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Audrey, his children, Andrea, Anthony, and step-daughter Miranda, his grandson Daniel; his mother Andrea and his three sisters Susie, Becky and Cathy. He will be truly missed by all those who knew him, and by those whose lives he touched through his generosity, kindness, and love of life.
