JEAN NELSON WINGARD, age 89, passed away on 9/30/2015 from natural causes. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was a long time resident of Riverside, CA for over 50 years. She obtained her BA degree. She retired as Executive Secretary for Tim Hayes at the Press Enterprise after 25 years. She had such a passion for the city she lived in and was involved in many organizations as well as attending daily mass at St. Catherine's until she physical was not able. Her love of the arts, reading and traveling created an extensive collection of books, paintings and pictures through-out the years. She loved people and enjoyed entertaining as often as possible with her Cookie Club, Book Club, Hot Bitches Club, and Codgers as well as their very close friends. She was very active in the Friends of the Mission Inn and enjoyed attending the Riverside Community Players performances. Jean was loved by many as she always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. She is survived by her beloved son Andrew Wingard; daughter-in-law Carri Wingard; 3 grandchildren: Brandon, Garrett & Nicholas and her pet cat Sunday. Last surviving brother Stewart Nelson; nephew & nieces: Gary & Linda Nelson and their children Stephanie & Steven-Dennis & Angela Nelson and their 4 children Michael & wife Gettys, Christopher, David & Kathleen. Visitation: Thursday, 10/8/15 from 4-8pm; Rosary at 6pm, both at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary in Riverside, CA. Funeral Service: Friday, 10/9 at 12pm, St. Catherine's followed by a graveside service at 2pm, Riverside National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be at 3pm at Acheson & Graham. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to these charities she supported: Feeding American (Second Harvest Food Bank in Riverside) Wounded Warriors, Smile Train and Friends of the Mission Inn.
