Janet Loring Wing was born in 1948 in Evanston, IL to her parents Robert and Virginia Wing. She had an older brother Dick and a younger brother Dave. At the age of three Janet’s mother passed away. Her father remarried Joan and had four additional children, George, Gibby, Lu and Rob. It was discovered at an early age Janet was blessed with the gift to be able to play the violin. At eight years old Janet took violin lessons at Northwestern University. In 1962 Janet’s family moved to Riverside California. Janet attended Poly High School then Riverside community college before transferring to Long Beach State. She earned a music scholarship to complete her degree and graduate in 1969. Janet met Gordon in Riverside and the two were married in 1970! They were a dynamic couple from the beginning. Their jobs took them to Florida, Arizona and California. They had three children, Brian, Genevieve and Bradford. Janet had a robust career in music including playing for the Jacksonville Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony and many Trios. She was a music teacher for Napa Valley Unified school district and ran a robust private violin studio. She impacted many with her musical ability. Janet was very involved with her church in every state she lived. Always noted for playing her violin on Sunday mornings and special events. Janet and Gordon retired to Gilbert, Arizona in 2003. There they enjoyed boating and traveling while being part of their 8 grandkids lives. Janet was known for playing alongside her grandkids with a smile on her face. Janet was graciously called home after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Janet is now at rest and peace worshiping God and enjoying Gordon.
