Douglas V. Barlett, age 79, of Riverside, California, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024. Douglas was born in Manila, Philippines, on August 7, 1945 to parents William M. Barlett MD and Eulalia de Vera.
After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1967, Douglas worked at a couple of engineering firms in Manila. In June 1982, he immigrated with his young family to the United States, settling in Riverside.
Douglas worked at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Corona from October 1982 until the end of 2005. He worked in the Quality Assurance Department currently named Acquisition Readiness (AR). Douglas was a reliability engineer on the Trouble and Failure Report (TFR) Program.
After retirement, Douglas focused on spending time with his family, traveling, volunteering, writing, and enjoying his many fun hobbies which include chess, magic, tai chi, and vegetable gardening.
Douglas is survived by his loving wife Teresa Barlett and his two sons, Douglas (George) Barlett Jr. (wife Rochelle and their daughter Sydney) and William Barlett (wife Merrie Ann and their children William, Jackson, and Lily), as well as a host of extended family members.
Douglas will be laid to rest in Riverside on Monday, October 14, 2024.
A visitation for Douglas will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 14, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 3774 Jackson St, Riverside, CA 92503. A graveside service will occur Monday, October 14, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Olivewood Memorial Park, 3300 Central Ave, Riverside, CA 92506.
