I remember the many times we spent with our cousin David, at his house back in the 1960s. We had a lot of fun hanging out with him and his brothers and sisters. I remember how we used to play all the cool board games they had with him and Cathy and playing hide and seek at night. With the empty field behind their house and nearby orange groves it was always kind of creepy....which made the scariness all the better. One summer, my family (my dad Angel,my mom Jessie and my sister Barbara), and his family all went to Rosarito Beach to spend a week there. We enjoyed that week swimming at the beach and lighting fireworks every night. I can't believe he is gone, but from what I remember, spending time with him and looking through all the photos here, it was apparent that he had the love and comfort of his family with him throughout the years. May you be at peace David. Our love and sympathy to all of the Cervantes family members.

David had real talent. He saw the world and was always thinking up ways it could be more awesome. He was always making us laugh and he loved his family, especially his son Josh. He talked about his son all the time and I could tell he was the greatest person in the world to him. I will miss him so. I love you David!

I'm very saddened to learn today that my cousin, David Cervantes passed away today.Growing up and living next door to each other, he was my best friend!! As children, we had many adventures there on Tenth St.!! When we were real small, after school every day, we would go to grandma Tacha;s and get our cup of mush!! Then we'd go out to play or go watch cartoons at his house. We would build our little club houses, but because grandpa Tony would tear them down we started making them without nails, but it would topple on top of us. Our older sibling's used to build go carts and we'd ride them up and down my Uncle Bill's driveway or ride them up at the high school.
We would go down to the Sears and get the really big boxes and use them in the field behind our houses and make trails in the tall grass. The Alpha Beta shopping center on Lincoln Ave.was another haven of fun for us. I think we drove those ladies that worked at the Sprouts Rietz crazy!!! We also would go down to Joe Bridges trading post to cash in soda pop bottles and buy our candy!! Many times we would go in the ditch (the Oak St. Channel) to go down to Joe's trading post just for the fun of it!!
We would always play softball at the high school with the Flores' and during the summer hot days. we'd go looking for the sprinklers that were on at the high school just to get wet!!
I have many fond memories of my cousin from when were children. David, my cousin, but most of all my childhood best friend, may you rest in peace and may your Mom receive you in heaven with open arms!! God Bless you!! I will miss you very much and some day I will see you on the other side.
