Conchita Rivas, age 76, long time resident of Riverside County and current resident of Moreno Valley, California passed away on Saturday, June 10,2023 at home surrounded with loved ones. Preceded in death by husband Joe Manuel Rivas married 53 years and baby brother Ramon Torres. Survived by sisters, Maria Dolores Torres and Maria Esperanza Torres -Flores. Children, Maria Rivas, Joe Rivas Jr. (Alma), Regina Guevara (Robert) and Marcos Rivas (Tabitha). Conchita was blessed in her life with 14 grandchildren Ramon (Ilaria), Lil Robert (Maria), Anthony (Joanna), Luis, Angel, Lil JoJo, Komina, Anastasia, Lil Marcos, Damian, Raymon, Alex, Kayla (Justin), Zach (Mica) and 8 great grandchildren Ramon Jr, Navid, Nevaeh, AJ, Alicia, Sylvia, Marcos Enrique and Nahima
Conchita was born in San Diego, California July 9, 1947 to Jose De Jesus Torres and Maria Concepcion Silvas. After receiving her cosmetology license from Bartmore Beauty College in 1965, Conchita met the love of her life, Joe M. Rivas, who stood by her for 53 years. She was the most devoted wife, mother, mentor, and great grandmother. Conchita worked for Pacific Bell/ AT&T as a switch board operator in her early tenure and then as a bilingual service rep until her retirement in 2006. She dedicated her time in her work life to being an Activist for workplace justice as a Chief Steward for CWA Local 9400 and helped organize farm workers in northern California next to Cesar E. Chavez in the late 1980s. She was passionate about workers' rights. Conchita was a truly great woman with strength of a giant that grew strong children. She sprinkled her wisdom and love on her own and any neighborhood kid that came on taco Tuesday to the house. Her impact will forever be felt by her family and friends, and all that knew her. She will be missed.
Visitation will be held at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer on July 17,2023 at 4:00pm-8:00 pm. 7944 Magnolia Ave Riverside, California 92504.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Catherines of Alexandria Catholic Church on July 18, 2023 at 11:00am 3680 Arlington Ave. Riverside California 92506. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetary at 1pm 22495 VanBuren Blvd. Riverside California 92518 where she will be laid to rest together with her beloved husband.
Celebration of her life/reception will follow after burial at VFW Moreno Valley 22616 Alessandro Blvd. Moreno Valley California 92553
