Clarence Joseph Mendez Jr., age 78, of Riverside, California passed away on Friday August 17, 2018. Clarence was born February 26, 1940. He graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1958, then served in the Marine Corps. Clarence loved the game of golf, to read, to travel, gardening, geography, and coin collecting. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Pauline Margaret Mendez; daughter Marcella Vargas; daughter Susanne Whatley; daughter Sherri Ann; and daughter Leslie Winterton; grandchildren Stephanie Vargas; Dylan Lemestre; Brennen Lemestre; Jacob Lemestre; Jenna Whatley; Justin Whatley; Lily Winterton; Brady Winterton great grand children Aj Ruvalcaba; Peter Zamora.
A visitation for Clarence will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, California 92504. A rosary will occur Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, California 92504. A celebration of mass service will occur Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine Catholic Church, 2858 9th Street, Riverside, California 92507. An interment service will occur Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, California 92518.
Serving as pallbearers are Justin Whatley, Daniel Winterton, Carnell Sims, Dylan Lemestre, Randy Mendez, David Ballesteros, Chris Ballesteros and Adrian Encinas.
