CHRISTIANE C. HOPKINS, age 85, peace-fully passed away on July 3, 2016 at home in Riverside, CA. She was born on May 21, 1931 in Rabat, Morocco. She married Michael Hopkins in Rabat in 1954, moved to America in 1955, be¬came a U.S. citizen in 1960, and moved to Riverside in 1966 when Michael was stationed at March Air Force Base. Chris was preceded in death by Michael and her brothers Thomas and Emil Carreno. She is survived by brother Raoul Carreno; son Michael (Julie) Hopkins; grandson Christopher (Amy) Hoyden; great-grandchildren Grace, Reagan, Cameron, Archer and Elin Hoyden; nieces Helene (Michel) Come, Monique Carreno (Shintaro Nagaoka), Dominique Carreno and nephews Thierry (Martine) Carreno. Thomas and Joseph Carreno, many great- and great-great nie¬ces and nephews, and friends. She was a beloved French and Spanish teacher at North High School and Notre Dame High School in Riverside. Chris was a kind, caring, intelligent, strong woman who was loved by many and will be missed by all. She was devoted to her family, friends, and her faith. She learned English with classmates in a bomb shelter in Morocco during WWII. She was passionate about teaching and helping others. She was an avid reader, painter, and animal lover. Services will be at noon on Friday, July 15, St. Thomas the Apostle, 3774 Jackson St., Riverside, CA 92503. Burial at 2:00PM at National Cemetery, Riverside.
