Betty Jean Smith, 77, passed away on Tuesday June 25th at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, California. Betty was married to William Robert Smith for 53 years; he preceded her in death in May of this year. She leaves behind her daughter Vickie Mountain and her husband Robert; Son Jim Sanchez; Son Rusty Gates and his wife Monica; preceded in death by son Leroy Smith; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grand child. She was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico the daughter of John D. Underwood and Audrey Janet Kingsman. Betty and her parents moved to Corona, California when she was one year old. Betty was gifted in the kitchen. She not only enjoyed cooking for her family, but also loved to bake her chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies, which were always a huge hit. She has a passion for crocheting and knitting and had a knack talent teaching anyone who wanted to learn. Betty had a love for reading, especially Stephen King novels and preferred any good horror film. One of her favorite pastimes was taking her kids to the drive-in theater and making her famous homemade popcorn. Betty loved her family unconditionally. Family was the most important thing in her life. She always looked forward to Holidays, Birthdays, or any family gathering. Having her family around meant everything to her. Those are the days she cherished the most.
