BARBARA MADER IVEY Age 76, resident of Riverside, CA for 67 years, passed away July 16, 2011 from complications of breast cancer. Barbara was born July 18, 1934 in Grenada, Colorado. She attended Chemawa Junior High School and graduated from Poly High School in 1952. Barbara was active in the Riverside Community, teaching at UC Riverside and founding "Women on Wine", a wine appreciation and educational organization. She organized a yearly wine and food tasting event, the proceeds going to establish two scholarship funds at Fresno State University Enology Department. A mystery writer, Barbara wrote "Beguiled, The Shadow Within" and "Easy Kill." She started a small catering business, and was a contributing writer for wine publications throughout the country. She loved to travel with her husband of 59 years, John Ivey. Barbara is survived by her husband John Ivey, 5 children Laurie Campbell, Lanie Ivey, John Ivey, Tinamarie Stone and Francine Ivey, and her 9 grandchildren Johnnie Ivey, Samantha Ivey, Cailin Miller, Linzie Campbell, Dylan Campbell, Wyatt Campbell, Ethan Davis, Zach Davis and Russell Stone. Visitation and viewing will be held at Acheson Graham Garden of Prayer mortuary on July 24, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held July 25th at 10:30 a.m. with a graveside memorial at Riverside National Cemetery following the service.
