Judi and family,  words are hard at a time like this.  I know this because we lost our son too. God took him home on 8/6/15.  He was 21 years one week to the day. I only know you from watching you on TV. However, I just want you to know how truly sorry I am for you and your family. No parent should ever bury a child. We lost our son, Cameron.  He turned 29 in January 19th, 2019 and never woke up. My heart goes out to you both, and the rest of the family. It's NEVER easy to lose someone we love with our whole heart. No words of comfort, or platitudes seem to help within these moments. The breathes will slowly become less painful, the memories will slowly start bringing joy and laughter instead of pain. Just know everyone's grief is unique, and takes it's on time. Without knowing your son, I've no doubt he knew how much you loved him. I'm so confident he loved you back just as fiercely. While death may be a part of life, it never seems to get easier.  I've lost friends and family alike, and for me and mine one thing that helped over time was bring them up. If we find a new restaurant or cool experience, we wonder aloud of he'd like it...or lead into stories about him. Thus keeping a little part of him alive. He travelled a lot, so for me it's hard as I can often trick my mind into thinking he's just away for a bit. We make sure to keep his photo out and tell my sister's daughter stories about him. She doesn't feel she's missed out. She feels she knows him somehow even as a 1st grader. You WILL find your way.  There is no time table in this thing called grief. You're loved by many. My prayer for your family is a holiday season and beyond of peace. The ability to laugh/smile without guilt. Sending you so much love and many blessings.

Dear Judi! I, cannot tell you how shocked and saddened I was, when I heard the horrific news about your son, Austin. I've been a long-time fan of yours since (GL), and it almost feels like losing a family member. Please accept my condolences and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers forever!!! RIP Austin.!

I remember waiting for Austin's birth, celebrating special early birthdays and special occasions. Later several trips to California and their generous hospitality in taking us to Disneyland. I recall Austin insisting I go on a roller coaster with him (something I would never have done before). There are things that children do  that make you stretch beyond your comfort zone in trying to please them. His life too short but memories involving him will remain in others' hearts forever.

Judi, I am shocked and saddened, but I smile remembering our happenchance Disneyland adventures.  I'll always cherish us not thinking the Monsters Inc. ride was very good together. I remember a little boy with the biggest smile who lit up the theatre every time he came to a rehearsal for our plays back in the day. He even memorized my opening bit and we'd put him up on the stage and he would perform it line for line - always holding for laughs - he knew to hold for the laughs. I adored him. Austin, 
    No words will ever make things better, but this is a tragedy for the family, who are heartbroken to a million pieces. Ever since I was adopted, I always loved to hang out with Austin, who was my nephew even though we are closer in age by only six years. We both joined the family the same year. I was six and Austin joined at birth. Austin was like my other sibling to be with since we are only children along with Richie, my sister’s son. I often went to my brother and Judi’s house to be babysat, do activities, parties, and I have many good memories of us together as a family. Being with the family is important for me because I did not have one, but this family filled my life with such great memories. I always looked forward to seeing Austin because we always had such a great time, playing, running wild in the backyard. Travelling to see him in California was wonderful for me. These memories are cherished and I cannot tell you which memories I would like to share. Life was short for Austin and unfair since he had an unfinished life to look forward to. I do not want to say goodbye, but I will remember Austin as a great nephew and a great man. 


Our hearts are broken for all of you.  We had the pleasure of meeting Austin when he was younger on his visits to NJ.  More recently on his stay here in NJ as a young man.  He was si pleasant, kind and engaging.   We send you all much love, strength, healing and prayers.
