Edna Lemon Stanley

Edna Virginia Lemon Stanley, 85, of the Golden Living Center of Martinsville, formerly of 364 Woodlawn Ave, Martinsville died Saturday, September 08, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Roanoke on November 23, 1926 to the late Lilburn Lemon and Molly Hurst Lemon. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church of Greensboro, NC, and in her later years she attended Wayside Baptist Church in Ridgeway.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Glen Stanley, two sisters, Margaret Hazel LaPrade and Lillian Stmasta, four brothers, Earl L, Eddie, Kenneth Lee and Billy Lemon.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Garrison and husband, Butch of Mechanicsville, MD; three sons, Charles “Alvin” Wilson and wife, Ann of Martinsville, Bob Wilson and wife, Carol of Lincolnton, North Carolina and Roger “Button” Wilson and wife, Ann of Sherrills Ford, NC; eleven grandchildren, Robert Garrison, Allen Wilkes, Amy Wilson Hodges, Charles A. Wilson, Jr., Dayrl Wilkes, Mitzi Wilson Bratt, Jon Wilson, Amanda Wilson, Paula Wilson, Tina and Mike Spillman; twenty two great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild; special nieces and nephews, Wanda LaPrade and Wayne Jones, Toni LaPrade and Jerry Thornburg.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday September 12, 2012 at Wayside Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Hicks officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall prior to interment in Greensboro, NC.

Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Mid-Way Cemetery in Greensboro, North Carolina. The family will receive friends 6-7:30p.m. Tuesday at Wayside Baptist Church and other times at the home. pallbearers where: Jonathan Hicks, George Jones, Cliff Mayes, Jamie Slaughter, Keith Hicks, Ken Horsley, Allen Wilkes and Dayrl Wilkes.
