William Pierre Tompkins

William "Bill" Pierre Tompkins Jr., 66, passed away on September 26, 2012. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Jackson, MS on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 2 pm. Visitation will be held from 12-2 pm at the church prior to the service.

Bill graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi State School of Architecture. After serving in Desert Storm he retired as a Major from the United States Army National Guard. Bill was a prominent and long-standing member of the business community as owner of Tompkins Design Group and served on the National Board of Architecture for 10 years. Bill was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church for over 30 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and lover of the outdoors.

Bill dearly loved Gay, his wife of 42 years. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Bethany, and to his son, Chad, and daughter-in-law, Ginger. He was a loving brother to Marie Griffith. Bill had an untold number of loving family members, friends, and associates.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Christ United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice
