William J. Everitt long time resident of Jackson age 93 died April 14, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Marjorie M. Everitt of Ridgeland, and his son William J. Everitt, Jr. (Gena), and daughter Karen E. Brown (Don), all of Madison. He was preceded in death by son Richard K. Everitt. Other survivors include grandsons Paul Everitt Brown (Liz) of Madison, Edward Jerome Everitt (Hayley) of Baton Rouge, LA and Elliott Thomas Everitt (Carrie) of Yazoo City. He had five great grandchildren: William Welch Brown, Elliott Thomas Everitt, Jr. Harris Gregory Everitt, Graham Eloise Everitt and Hall Henry Everitt.
Mr. Everitt was a native of Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in Vera Cruz, Mexico. He was a successful businessman having worked for a number of oil companies prior to owning his own business in Jackson. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf with the "Super Coots," hunting and bridge. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a hard working businessman, and a generous and dependable friend.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 18 at 12:30 with visitation prior to the service beginning at 11:00 at the Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery near Camden, Arkansas on Thursday, April 19 at 2:00pm.
Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.
