Virginia was born July 21, 1920, in Carbondale, Illinois. She grew up in the twenties and saw the beginning and end of the Great Depression in Southern Illinois. After high school, she became a telephone operator. It was in this job where she met and married Theodore Boswell in 1942. The marriage lasted fifty-six years until her husband's death in December 1998.
After 25 years of raising four children and keeping house, Virginia decided to go to college. She was in the first class of nurses to graduate from Hinds Junior College. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Hinds General Hospital (now CMMC) until her retirement.
Virginia was a devoted member of Alta Woods Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also taught a quilting group. She was talented in all form of needlework and loved sharing her talents with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Josie Wolf, husband Theodore (Ted) Boswell, and son Dr. James L. Boswell.
Survivors include sons Allan Boswell, Jackson, MS, and Ted Boswell, Tampa, FL, Daughter Barbara Boswell Rushton, Madison, MS; grandchildren Tad Boswell, Chad Boswell, Drew Boswell, Billy Boswell, Bobby Boswell, Kristin Boswell Amonette, Adam Boswell, Scott Rushton, Paul Rushton, and Robert Rushton; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Virginia was beloved by her daughters-in-law Penny Winston Boswell (Allan) ans Susan Krumroy Boswell (Ted) and son-in-law Dr. Fred Rushton (Barbara.)
The family wishes to thank her devoted caregiver during her last year, Terri Boswell (Tad) and Highland Home of Ridgeland.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 PM on Monday, January 6, at Wright and Ferguson Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS. Services will be held at 2PM, Monday, at the Chapel of Wright and Ferguson Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial South on McCluer Road, Jackson, MS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alta Baptist Church, Jackson, MS.
