Funeral services for Thomas Edward Whitten, 61, of Brandon, MS will be held at Wright and Ferguson Funeral home in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 18 from 5:00-7:00. Funeral service on Wednesday May 19 at 4:00 at the funeral home.
Whitten died Saturday, May 15, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. He was born November 17, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee to Lucille and Milton Whitten. He grew up in Hernando, MS and graduated from Hernando High School. He attended Ole Miss where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Engineering in 1971. He was employed by the Illinois Central Gulf R.R in Chicago and Paducah, KY. He returned to MS in 1981 to become Rail Manager for the MS Dept. of Energy and Transportation. He then became Director of the Environmental Resource Center for the MS Dept. of Environmental Quality.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela Whitten, a son Thomas E. Whitten II of Brandon, MS, a daughter Alexandra M Whitten of Brandon , a brother David Whitten of Horn Lake , MS and several aunts, uncles and cousins
