Stephen W Brown

Steve was born in Fort Worth, TX, on September 6, 1953. Being part of an Air Force family meant frequent moves throughout his childhood, before finally settling in north Mississippi just prior to his senior year of high school. Following graduation from Tupelo High, he attended Itawamba Community College and went on to enjoy many years of learning at the University of Mississippi, leaving with a Bachelor of Music, Certification in Speech Pathology, and nearly an MBA.

He began his career in marketing with South Central Bell in 1980 and retired from BellSouth in 2007 when his health prevented continuing. His later years were spent deepening his faith, sharing his photography, drinking coffee, and inspiring all of us.

Steve was a creative soul. His beautiful tenor voice was unforgettable. Songs, poetry, and meditations overflowed from his heart. He loved to draw and paint. He had an eye for the best in anyone or anything, and he brought laughter wherever he went. He was a gifted teacher and communicator and he unashamedly encouraged others to seek a closer walk with Jesus.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Martin Brown. He is survived by his father, Charles Forrest Brown of Guntown, MS; his wife of 26 years, Beth; his sons, Ben (Kendra) of El Paso, TX, and Ian of Madison, MS; his grandson, Bryson of El Paso, TX; his brother, Mike (Sue Ann) of Statesville, NC; his nephews Chris, Michael, and William. His beloved extended family included father in law, Howard Boone (Diane); brother in law, Chris Boone (Beth); niece and nephew, Carley Corbin and Bailey Boone; and his faithful longtime caregiver Shanna Byrd.

Funeral services will be held at Madison United Methodist Church on Monday, December 12, at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 8:30 to 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
