Sara Janice Patterson passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at the age of 87 in Flowood, MS. Born on November 19, 1937, Sara was known for her kind, gentle nature, and being the epitome of a southern lady.
Sara dedicated much of her life to education, teaching at Pecan Park Elementary School in Jackson, MS.
She was well-loved by her students and colleagues alike, leaving a lasting impact on many lives through her commitment to education.
Beyond her professional life, Sara was deeply passionate about gardening, playing cards with friends, and spending quality time with her extensive and loving family. Her home was often filled with laughter, warmth, and the joy of her company.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Patterson; sons Randy Hyman, Chris (Nicole) Hyman, Wes (Payton) Hyman, Mike Hyman, Kevin (Sonnie) Patterson, Ken Patterson, Mike (Beverly) Patterson; daughter Sharon (Terry) Waston; grandchildren Mary Beth Rouly, Bobby Owens, Bill Owens, Michael Hyman, Hannah Hyman, Emily Hyman, Sophie Hyman, Melissa Peterson, Jermiah Underwood, Amanda Hyman, Michael Patterson, Lauren Patterson, Alicia (Justin) Edrington, Sylvia Patterson, Marianna Patterson; great-grandchildren Ryker Edrington, Emmett Edrington, Wren Edrington, Dean Underwood, Grace Underwood, Lily Rouly, and Jordan Owens. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Nan Black and son Martin (Constanza) Patterson.
A gravesite celebration of Sara’s life will be held on Friday, December 20th at Parkway Funeral Home at 10:00 am. Sara’s life was a testament to her love and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
