Robert L. Denton, Jr., known by his family and friends as “Bob”, “Bobby”, and “Bobby D”, age 60 was born on August 12, 1950 and died following a brief illness with lung cancer July 4, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 4 pm Thursday in the Chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway. Visitation from 3 till 4pm. Interment will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Bob graduated from Murrah High School in 1969 where he played football for the Murrah Mustangs. He graduated from the University of Miss in 1974 where he was a cheerleader for the Ole Miss Rebels. Bob was a livelong Jacksonian except for a short stent in Aspen, Colorado where he enjoyed snow skiing and hiking. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and the life of the party. He was loved and will be missed by all that knew him. He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Jones Denton and survived in death by his father Robert L Denton, Sr. “Bobby”, son Robert L Denton, III “Trey”, sister Vivian Denton Meredith, nephew Albert Clarke Meredith, Jr. “Clarke”, and Jane Johnson, Bob’s step grandmother.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice Minestries. Services under the direction of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, Ridgeland, MS.
