Paul H. Sullivan, 86, of Ridgeland, Mississippi, went Home to see Jesus on June 10, 2023, at 3:45 p.m. surrounded by his family and dog TinkerBelle after his wish to return to his physical home was honored by Hospice Ministries at 11 a.m., ending a long stay at St. Dominic Hospital.
Paul was born on June 18, 1936, to Cubie and Mary Jones Sullivan in Winona, Mississippi. He grew up in Meridian and Jackson, Mississippi, where he graduated from Jackson Central High and then from Hinds Community College. He served in the U. S. Army for two years, playing baseball in Special Services. After serving in the Army, he graduated from Mississippi College with a degree in Business while also playing shortstop for the Mississippi College Choctaws.
Soon after his graduation, he began his 31-year career with Delta Air Lines in Jackson, Mississippi, where he met his wife dona sue love. They were happily married for 43 years.
Paul was first a Christian who belonged to the Methodist denomination. He was a long-time member of Christ United Methodist Church, and it was very evident he shared the love of Jesus with everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, dona love sullivan; nephews Paul S. Sullivan (Lori) and Steven R. Sullivan (Linda); niece Karen Hoey (Blair); sister-in-law Sue Sullivan; 3 great nieces; 3 great, great nephews; and 4 great, great nieces. He is also survived by goddaughter Bethany Powers (Jason) and godson David Grantham (Mary K.). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles G. Sullivan.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Guynes, PA Amber Goodman and the Cardiac Care Team at St. Dominic Hospital, and also would like to thank Hospice Ministries, Lourena Penquite and Marguerite Bennett for their wonderful care of Paul.
A Celebration of Life service will held at The Chapel at Parkway Funeral Home (1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi 39157) on June 16 at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on June 16 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Paul requested memorials to Gateway Rescue Mission, P. O. Box 3763, Jackson, MS 39207, Christ United Methodist Church, 6000 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS 39211, or to the charity of your choice.
