Mildred Dickson Cloyd, age 87, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 24. She was born in Trezevant, Tennessee, to James and Brooxie Dickson. She attended Trezevant High School. Later, she married John H. Stoddard; she was a homemaker many years while nurturing their two children, Bettie and Johnny She loved to cook her wonderful southern meals. She an avid lover of gardening, especially growing her home-grown vegetables. Years later, she married her second husband, Jim Cloyd. After her children were grown, she attended, school to become a hair stylist. She became a successful entrepreneur by owning the Magic Mirror Salon, Upon retirement, she continued to make her
friends "beautiful" by styling their hair at her home!
She had been gravely ill in hospice for many months and died at St. Dominic Hospital. Mildred was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Brooxie Dickson, two husbands, John H. Stoddard and Jim Cloyd. She recently lost her son, John H. Stoddard, Jr. Three siblings also preceded her: James L. Dickson of Memphis, Tennessee, Barbara Davis of Hernando, Mississippi, and Dr. Kenneth L. Dickson of
Jackson, Tennessee.
She leaves her daughter, Bettie Carpenter (Mickey) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, four siblings: Billy Dickson (Ursula), Patricia Faught; Sherry Antwine (Jimmy); and Mary Talarico (Tom).She also leaves five wonderful grandchildren: Hyla Metcalf; 'Brooke Carpenter, Jennifer Coleman, John Hunter Stoddard, and Stephanie Stoddard.

Funeral services will be held in celebration of Mildred’s life at 1:00pm Wednesday November 27, 2013 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, preceded by visitation at 12:30pm. Burial will follow in Natchez Trace Cemetery.
