Jean Dorman passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the age of 91. She was born June 27, 1925 in Leake County, Mississippi to Kate Peoples Russell and Alvah Russell. Though she was a native of Carthage, Mississippi, Jean lived the majority of her life as a resident of Jackson, Mississippi, with the last four years of her life being spent in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to be closer to her son and family. Jean was a retired employee of the City of Jackson Tax Collector’s Office as well as the Hinds County Tax Collector’s Office. She was a longtime member of Providence Presbyterian Church (formerly Westminister Presbyterian Church). She was proud to have been a member of the same congregation for more than 60 years as her faith and church friends were a very important part of her life. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, Jessie Ozro Dorman; her parents, Kate Peoples Russell and Alvah Russell; sister, Ruby Russell Risher and brothers, Clyde Russell and Cecil Russell. Jean is survived by her son, Michael (Mike) Russell Dorman and wife Rosemary Ruble Dorman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Stacy Dorman Dampf and her husband Dr. Paul Dampf and their children David and Susanna, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and David Michael Dorman and wife Marilyn Zito Dorman and their children Grace and Caroline, all of Glendale, Arizona. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were very special to her. Jean was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the physicians and caregivers who helped care for her and ensure comfort in the final days of her life. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation to be held at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS, on Thursday, June 1st, 2017 from 9:00 AM until funeral services begin at 10:00 AM.
