Matthew graduated from Chapin High School in South Carolina and did college studies for a time at Brevard College. Matthew was an accomplished musician, guitar teacher, writer, poet, and skilled craftsman. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, running, and dogs. He was a member of the Mississippi Poetry Society and the Mississippi Writers Guild.
Matthew leaves behind his parents, Floyd and Sharon VanDeburgh; sisters, Ashley VanDeburgh Lewis (Robbie), and Amy VanDeburgh Fant (Chas); brother, Ryan Charles VanDeburgh (Elizabeth); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Matthew was loving, unassuming, compassionate, kind, and dearly loved by those who knew him. He trusted in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior as a child, and had a growing relationship with Him, even during difficult struggles in his life. He served on the worship team at Legacy Church in Asheville, NC, in the past, and attended Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison. He is now at peace in the presence of His Savior.
A memorial graveside service will be held at Parkway Memorial Cemetery, Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS, on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at 2:00 PM.
