Mary Carolyn Floyd

A funeral service will be at Edwards Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 10, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 am.

Carolyn was born on April 19, 1940, in Carthage, MS. She was the oldest of 3 children born to the late Ruby Bettie Coleman Alford and Dossie Joy Alford. Carolyn graduated from Central High School. She lived and worked most of her adult life in Jackson, MS., where she owned and operated Jackson Printing Company for 37 years, until 1999. She worked for Express Printing, then JBF, selling printing to her many devoted customers, which became loyal friends, until retirement in 2012.

Carolyn and Charles met in 1987, while members of the Country Western Dancers Association. They married August 11, 1988 and resided in Byram, MS until moving to Edwards in May 2000, where Carolyn enjoyed taking care of her home, yard and flowers, and gazing at the beautiful country views of farm life. During their 33 ½ years together, she and Charles enjoyed traveling, especially out west to Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon and Sedona, Arizona.

Carolyn attended Edwards Baptist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Club. She made many friends and was gifted with many talents, including, sewing, cross-stitching, printing and creating books for her class reunions. She was well-organized in all she did, but happiest when helping others.

Carolyn was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, the best sister, and a good friend to all. She often recollected precious memories of her children, grandchildren and family. Nannie or G.G., as she was often referred too, was a super star at taking care of everyone she loved. She will be missed, immensely, by so many.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sandra Yates; two sons, Michael and Kevin Thrailkill. She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles G. Floyd; sister, Sue Wells; daughter, Cindy Thrailkill Comans; stepdaughters, Regina Floyd Gaddy (Justin) and Shana Floyd Armstrong (Eric); 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved so dearly.
