Marie was born in Dothan, Al to William and Eva Clark and lived her formative years there. Her family moved to Graceville, Fl in 1943 where she attended Graceville High School, met, later married her husband R.G. Hardy
Mrs. Hardy and her husband graduated from Southeatern University in Lakeland, Fl. In 1953 they moved to Mississippi where she devoted herself to raising their children and was also involved with civic, church and youth activities. As an Eastern Star member, she served as Worthy Grand Matron and was active as a Fessett. She retired from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, in 2001 after 25 years of service.
Marie loved people, helping others, working in her yard, planting and caring for her flowers, especially her roses; creating fresh flower arrangements from the flowers she grew, spending time with grandkids, reading and worshiping God. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, Ms. But while living in Dyersburg, First United Methodist Church was her church home.
In addition to her parents, Marie was proceeded in death by her siblings- Alma Hamm, Willie Mae Johnson, Pearl Ves'sells, Woodrow Clark, William (Tommy) Clark, Wilburn Clark, Mabon Clark and son-in-law Richard (Dick) McCormick.
She is survived by her children Harold Hardy and his wife Janie of Cumming, GA, Elaine McCormick of Dyersburg, TN; her siblings Horace Clark of Tampa, FL and Roy Clark of Hendersonville, TN, sister-in-law Ola Van Dusen of Augusta, GA.
Other survivors include her grandchildren Hal (Sondra) Hardy of Cumming, GA, Alison (Mark) Schneider of Dyersburg, TN, Chris Hardy of Alpharetta, GA, Stephanie (Scott) Flynn of Atoka, TN and Tiffany (Billy) Riggins of Fayetteville, AR; great grandchildren, Hannah Stewart, Jake and Ethan Schneider, Tyler and Kyle Flynn, Colin, Sivana and Sadie Riggins, Mia and Shayla Hardy, Katelyn, Caroline and Jack Hardy; great great grandchildren Neyland Flynn, Korbyn Flynn and Jovee Ann VanCleave.
Parkway Funeral Home and Cemetery, Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, MS is in charge of arrangements. Visitation and services will be in the chapel of Parkway Funeral Home, Monday, October 9, 2023 visitation 11am-12pm and service 12pm.
