A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Margaret “Clay” Murphy, 96, died Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Lakewood Memorial Park. Parkway Funeral Home of Ridgeland, MS is in charge of Arrangements.
Born Margaret Elzie Clay to Willie Calvin Hines and William Frank Clay near Collinsville, Mississippi, in November 1918, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Murphy, her parents and all her siblings. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Clay (Bill) Sturdivant and Sandra (Bert) M. Lawrence.; four grandsons, John Lawrence (Liz) of Horizon City, TX, Calvin Lawrence (Tanya) of Central Asia, Troy Sturdivant (Kim) of West Palm Beach, FL, Dr. Clint (Ashley) Sturdivant of Madison, MS; seven great-grandchildren, Seth, Cheyenne, Brennan, Brook, Jackson, Jack and Sam.
