Linda Dickerson Dismuke

Linda was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who treasured her relationships and loved sharing life with her family and friends. Known as “Mimi” to her oldest granddaughter, Ella, Linda was grateful to have lived to see the arrival of two more beautiful grandchildren, James and Abby, in the months before her passing.

Linda was reliable and you could always depend on her. In all she undertook, you could count on her to pour herself into a task or project, support others in need, and do her work in ways that embodied her commitment to serve others with loving excellence. She especially loved cooking, and every Christmas her friends would eagerly await her world famous turtle cakes.

Linda was born on July 26, 1953, in Memphis, TN. Her parents passed away when she was young. She was adopted by her late father’s uncle, James E. “Prof” Dickerson and his wife Mary Bob Dickerson, both of whom were teachers. Linda followed in their footsteps and became a teacher herself. Upon graduating from Calhoun City High School, she attended Mississippi College and earned her master’s degree from the University of Mississippi. She taught elementary school before becoming a full time mother and homemaker.

In 1977, Linda married the love of her life, Randy Dismuke. She leaves behind Randy, their two children Caleb (Kelly) Dismuke of Brandon and Robin (Albert) Shannon of Starkville, three grandchildren, other extended family members, and many friends.

A family graveside service will be held for Linda at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Big Creek, MS. Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the American Cancer Society, Chapel Hill Cemetery 762 CR308, Big Creek, MS 38914 or a charity of your choice.
