Leona Grace McSparrin

A devoted mother, Leona raised her two children in Huntsville, AL. She was also very involved in her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. She loved the Lord and enjoyed serving Him through St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Huntsville, AL.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Eulalie Virtue, as well as her older sister, Dolores Linard. She is survived by her children: Terri S. Barrett (Tom) of Madison, MS and George C. Starkey (Cathy) of Athens, AL. Her love also lives on in her grandchildren: Thomas J. Barrett (Rebecca) of Madison, MS; Alex Barrett (Rachel) of Salt Lake City, UT; and Matthew Starkey (Rachel) of Harvest, AL. Her humor and joy continues on as well in the lives of her great grandchildren, James, Jonathan, and Luke of Madison, MS; her younger sister, Mary Lou Davis; nephews, Jeff, Ed, Jodie, and Jim; and niece, Deborah Lafromboise, all of Ohio.

The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the nurses of Gentiva Hospice, the entire staff of the Blake at Township, and Gentle Touch Sitters.

A private family celebration of her life will be held in Ohio at a future date to be determined.
