Leigh Anne was born on December 12, 1974, at University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, to Dr. Frazier and Mrs. Bobbie Gooch Ward. Leigh Anne graduated from Jackson Academy in 1993 having been elected to Who’s Who of American High Schools. She received a Leadership Scholarship to attend Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina and was graduated in 1997. While at Converse, she was in the Crescent Honor Society, counselor to Freshmen during her Junior year,and served in elected offices in the student body. Leigh Anne later received a Master’s Degree from Belhaven University in 2000.
Leigh Anne was a teacher at Madison Ridgeland Academy for 12 years. She enjoyed working with the children, each of whom was special to her. Leigh Anne was a member of the Jackson Junior League and enjoyed participating in many projects benefitting the community. She was an avid doll collector and enjoyed her beautiful collection of Miss Noah dolls, Lady Anne dolls, Members of British Royal Family dolls and others.
Leigh Anne was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and taught the 5 year old Life Group in Sunday School.
Leigh Anne is survived by her parents, Dr. Frazier and Bobbie Gooch Ward, her maternal grandmother , Elva Potts Gooch, and aunt, Linda Gooch Thompson, and three cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Wallace V. Gooch, and paternal grandparents, Elbert F. and LaVern Griffith Ward.
Leigh Anne will be remembered for her kindness and her caring and genuine concern for others. She truly lived her Christian beliefs.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 pm Friday, August 20, 2010, in the Chapel of Broadmoor Baptist Church on Highland Colony Parkway in Madison, MS. Funeral services will be 10:30am Saturday, August 21, 2010 in the Worship Center of Broadmoor Baptist Church, preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Parkway Memorial Cemetery on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, MS.
Memorials may be given to Broadmoor Baptist Church building fund or to Keystone Fund for special projects of the Jackson Junior League.
