John “Van” Iving Zachry, 67, of Madison, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. He was born on February 21, 1955 in Meridian, Mississippi. A visitation for Van will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, Mississippi 39157.
Van is survived by daughters, Ashton Zachry Smith (Josh), Savannah Zachry Collins (Michael), and Shelby Zachry Evans (Colby); grandchildren, Harper Elizabeth Foy, Cal Houston Foy, Carson Elizabeth Collins, and Vanna Tayte Smith; sister, Leslie Zachry Morris (Willie); and nieces, Laci Morris Walker (Tyler), Sara Beth Morris Webb (Alex).
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Cannon Zachry; parents, William Hammond Zachry and Norma Clair Zachry; and grandson Austin Zachry Collins.
Van graduated from Callaway High School in 1973 and then began his adventures at Mississippi State University. He was a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, where he formed several lifelong friendships. While earning a degree in insurance, he also had time to be “Bully”, the infamous mascot.
After graduating, Van married the love of his life, Beth, and they built an amazing life together. In between working and spending time with his family, Lost Arrow hunting camp was his home away from home. Wherever Van was, memories were made, and friendships were cherished.
