John Childress Lenoir was born in McComb, MS, on May 31, 1949, to James Otis Lenoir and Elizabeth Enochs Lenoir. He was the second of three sons. John graduated from McComb High School and joined the United States Navy, where he served four years. John started Jackson Movers in the mid-1970s, working long hours until he sold the company in the late 1980s. He spent the rest of his life as a professional horse trainer. John was passionate about horses and spent countless hours teaching people to ride. He loved the outdoors and spent many years as an adult leader of Boy Scout Troop 61.
John is survived by his wife, Candy Lenoir; brother, the Rev. Scott Lenoir; son, Chris Lenoir; daughter-in-law, Amy Lenoir. He is also survived by grandchildren, William and Willow Lenoir, and three nieces, Chalise O’Quinn, Amy Lenoir, and Christy Lenoir.
He left behind many good friends.
A celebration of life for John will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Kearney Park Farms, 151 Ergon Road, Flora, Mississippi 39071.
