John H. Christmas age 84 died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Jackson MS. A Memorial Serice will be held Thursday April 29, 2010 at 3:00pm at the Madison United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until service time at the church.
John was born in Laurel MS on November 28, 1925 to James Y. and Lucille Christmas. He was a graduate of Vicksburg Carr Central High School. He attended LSU and graduated from Millsaps College in 1948. He received a masters degree from USM with advanced studies at LSU. He was a counselor and football coach at Laurel High School. He moved to Millsaps College in 1961 as Dean of Students retiring after thirty years as Vice President of Admissions and Student Affairs. He served in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and Korean War retiring as a Lieutenant Commander.
He is proceeded in death by daughter Sherly Jan Christmas. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Barbara, son Chris and his wife Dana, daughter Karen and granddaughter Annie and several nieces and nephews.
Horary pall bearers are the Truthseekers Sunday School Class and the Tuesday Lunch Club.
