Jean Ridgeway Butler, 95, joined her Savior Jesus Christ in heaven on January 23, 2016. Born in Molina, MO, she later moved with her family to Jackson, MS. Jean worked at H. L. Green on Capitol Street, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Harold Butler. Together, they were blessed with four children and ran Moonlight Dairy Farm in Ridgeland, MS. Jean was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Ridgeland, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. A woman of many hidden talents, she could play a host of songs on the harmonica and enjoyed writing poetry, some of which was published. Beautiful inside and out, she will be remembered for many things, including being a prayer warrior, talented artist, listening ear, and confidant. She never shied away from an opportunity to spend time with her family, intentionally letting them know they were important to her. Her priority was to instill a love for God and scripture in each of them.
Jean is survived by her children, Jim Butler (Mary) of Madison, MS, Pat Truesdale of Ridgeland, MS, Eddie Butler (Jill) of Kosciusko, MS; son-in-law, Mike Howell of Lebanon, OH; brother, Day Ridgeway of Braxton, MS; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Butler; daughter, Sue Howell; parents, Marcus B. and Blanche Ridgeway; and brother, Gayle Ridgeway. Visitation will take place Monday, January 25, at 10AM at Parkway Funeral Home followed by a celebration of her life at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the North American Mission Board (https://donations.namb.net) or First Baptist Church of Ridgeland, 302 West Jackson Street, Ridgeland, MS 39157
