

Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Anna, his daughter, Stacey Ainsworth (Ronnie), his son Reed (Lori), four wonderful grandchildren Hunter Ainsworth, Elliott Ainsworth, Quinn Elliott, and Swayze Elliott, as well as his sister-in-law Alisa Elliott and her family all of whom he adored, and many close friends. Born and raised in Oxford, Mississippi, the son of Allen Quay and Elizabeth Elliott, and the brother of Thomas W. Elliott, all of whom preceded him in death. Jim attended University High School where he played football, basketball, and tennis. He was an all-conference football player, and he and his long time doubles partner, Louis Brandt, won the North Mississippi, high school doubles championship for three consecutive years.
Upon graduation from University High School, Jim entered the University of Mississippi. At Ole Miss, he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Immediately upon graduation with a BS degree in Civil Engineering, Jim was commissioned as Ensign in the U.S. Navy Reserve and assigned to the USS Gurke, a Gearing Class destroyer serving in the western Pacific. After receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy Reserve as a LT. (JG) in 1965, he went to work with a consulting engineering firm located in Jackson, Mississippi.
In 1970, Jim and a partner created Diversified Consultants, Inc., a consulting engineering firm. A few years later, Jim purchased his partner’s share of the company. Over the years, DCI and Mr. Elliott maintained many loyal clients most of whom he worked with for more than 45 years.
In addition, Jim was an avid tennis player. He was a long time member of River Hills Tennis Club and participated as a member of many USTA tennis teams where he established so many of his close friendships.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Parkway Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, January 22nd from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Saturday, January 23rd from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M at Parkway Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Honorary Pallbearers include members of his tennis group Dr. Ken Carter, Malcolm Lightsey, Ken Toler, Sr., John Palmer, Jim Palmer, David McNamara, Daniel McNamara, Albert Lyle, Tito Echiburu, and Joey Stroble.
